The Social Dance Experience
The Partner Pattern Workshop on Sunday, 2/11 was geared to introduce new dancers to the world of dancing in this format. It also offered a progression of more challenging dances as the night moved on. Keep in touch with us to see more upcoming events like this one in the weeks to come. As mentioned in class, many of these dancers were handed down generation to generation. Depending on where you dance, there may be varieties in the steps.
We first taught Lindi Shuffle to get used to the Chasse/Rock Recover sequence. In the next class, we built off that by adding a vine in front of it to do Swamp Thang.
Here’s a rundown of some new dances taught and reviewed from the Dance Hall 360 Intro/Beginner Line Dance class on Tuesday, 8/29/17.
Tonight’s lessons brought in a few recent favorites that featured a rumba box and 1-2-cha-cha-cha steps. We worked on shuffles and 3/4 turns as well as felt how different music can make a dance feel different. What we discovered was how in one case, it was liked just as is where other found it better to alternative music. This flexibility opens up the potential to be able to dance to more music and possibly like a dance that other music did not appeal to the dancer as much.
